WIGJ Student Award Winners 2016

The Women in Games Student Awards is a competition to allow up to 6 students studying in the UK a free ticket and all their travel and accommodation costs paid for. It is sponsored by the University of Brighton and ReFiG.

It was held last year for the first time and attracted over 40 entries. The presentation of these winning students to the conference proved one of the highlights of the 2016 Conference.

For the competition to win a free ticket and all their travel and accommodation costs paid for, students need to send a link to their work or portfolio website to student.competition17 AT womeningames DOT org after 1st August and no later than August 11th 2017, stating their name, contact details, level of study, course, University and reason for entering. They are also need to join the women in games networks on LinkedIn and Facebook.

Judging of these awards by the WIGJ CEO and Board and their decision is final. WIGJ will aim to notify the successful students by August 25th. Winning students may be asked to share accommodation to manage costs.

It is reminded that the European Women in Games Conference already gives up to 4 free tickets to students studying for a career in the games industry per University or educational establishment. These free tickets are available directly from University Games Course leaders but do not cover the costs of travel and accommodation – see below.

Student Tickets

Women in Games has a limited number of free tickets for students or 2017 graduates on games industry first degree courses. These are full tickets with access to the keynotes, panels, workshops, a free lunch, the European Women in Games Hall of Fame awards and post conference networking drinks. The only restrictions are the numbers of tickets per educational establishment as we try to be fair to everyone. This year we are offering 4 tickets for each university in the UK.

The discount codes for your university’s free tickets are only available from your course leader or lecturer. Please contact your course leader or lecturer for the discount code in the first instance and not Women in Games.

Any course leader or lecturer who has not already been contacted by WIGJ and wants the discount code for his University, should contact David Smith on david.smith AT womeningames DOT org.
